Most times I find the kinks while writing and I can't continue writing until I figure it out. I don;t know that I have a good system other than I can tend to know what part of the plot or character actions/dialogue us bothering my, and I just think about it until I find a way to really get the kink out.

Perhaps I have less trouble finding the kink, it just takes me a while to message it out once I find it.

Great analogy. Although I hate when that happens, when you can't quite figure out what's wrong and how to fix it. Usually, I think time and distance helps. Getting someone else to read it can help out to. Hope you've worked through your kinks!

Excellent analogy :)
I usually talk to my family and close friends about any rough spots that are frustrating me while I'm smoothing out a story. Getting an outside opinion/POV can be a big help!

Thanks guys!

Simon, I'm eagerly anticipating the day when you work on a novel. I love your writing voice.

Sara, I know just what you mean. I'll take my voice recorder with me on walks and I've gotten a couple of funny looks. Ah well. ;)

Brittany, I'm wishing you all the best in finding that kink!

Wow this is such a gorgeous and unique way of looking at the revising process. That's exactly what I've been feeling since I finished my novel, that stiff spot I knew I needed to find. I've been cleaning and cooking and walking and driving, my WIP playlist on repeat and my mind constantly on the different aspects of the story.

I can't wait to find that painful kink in my manuscript and massage it out. ^_^

Fantastic analogy - so accurate! And I definitely take those two hour walks as well. (But I've definitely caught myself talking out loud like a crazy person while I try to hash through the kinks!)

Glad to hear your tangoing with your WIP again :-)
